Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time [2010]

“All the pain in the world will not help you find something that does not exist.”

Director : Mike Newell

Writer : Boaz Yakin, Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner (video game series “Prince of Persia”)

Actors : Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina

Story : Thanks to his bravery and loyalty young Dastan is adopted from the streets and grows up between royalty. He becomes a mighty warrior/prince and has a key position in capturing the Holy City of Alamut. While the attack goes on Dastan captures Princess Tamina and a mythical Dagger of Time which  has the power to turn back in time for a short period. At night the celebration begins and Dastan is conned into presenting a poisoned gown to his father King Sharaman which causes his untimely death. He is accused of the murder and flees with the princess and sets out on a journey to clear his name and stop an evil plot to rule the world.

What I Liked About It :

– Jake Gyllenhaal and the action scenes

What I Didn’t Like About It :

– oh god everything, and the ending was the worst

– it massacred the name of the video games

– it was cheesy, very cheesy

– bad CGI in my opinion (end sequence)

Final Note :

2 out of 4

  1. I thought this movie kind of fell into the type of “so bad it’s good”. I made the mistake of walking into the movie without ever having played a Prince of Persia game.
